Biography
French composer Tony Aubin was born on December 8th 1907 in Paris. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, having tuition in music theory with Samuel Rousseau, counterpoint with Noel Gallon, orchestration and composition with Philippe Gaubert and composition with Paul Dukas. His cantata Actaeon won him the Prix de Rome in 1930. From 1937 to 1944, he acted as artistic director of Paris Mondial and a professor at the Paris Conservatory from 1944 to 1977. Additionally, he conducted for the French radio between 1945 and 1960. He composed a large range of scores, including a number for films, which show a significant influence from the impressionism of Ravel and Dukas. Aubin died on September 21st 1981 having expressed his influence upon the compositional language of many successive French composers.
