Biography
Georges Delerue (Roubaix, northern France 1925 - Los Angeles 1992). He began his musical studies at his local conservatory, and continued at the Paris Conservatory in the classes of Henri Busser, Simone Plé-Caussade, Jean Rivier and Darius Milhaud. In 1949 he was awarded a First Prize in composition as well as the first of the second prizes of the Grand Prix de Rome. From 1948 onwards he composed very many scores for theatre and television and countless film scores in addition to music for performances of ‘son et lumière’, ballets and operas. Among his concert compositions are large symphonic works, several concertos, guitar pieces and songs.
