Summary

Kit Armstrong is an American-born, European-based pianist and composer.  He displayed remarkable early gifts for science and mathematics, studying physics, biology and chemistry at university level from before the age of 10. From the age of 12 he studied mathematics at Imperial College London and went on to earn a Masters Degree with honours in Mathematics from Paris VI in 2012.  He also studied piano and composition at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, where he took a B.Mus degree in 2008.

Biography

Kit Armstrong is an American-born, European-based pianist and composer.  He displayed remarkable early gifts for science and mathematics, studying physics, biology and chemistry at university level from before the age of 10. From the age of 12 he studied mathematics at Imperial College London and went on to earn a Masters Degree with honours in Mathematics from Paris VI in 2012.  He also studied piano and composition at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Royal Academy of Music, where he took a B.Mus degree in 2008.

Alfred Brendel has been his mentor since 2005 and he has appeared as a soloist with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Philharmonia London, and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, among many others.  As a composer, works published by Edition Peters include a Quintet for piano and winds, the Fantasy on B-A-C-H for piano solo, Who Stole My Wasabi? for cello and piano, Struwwelpeter for viola and piano, and Andante for orchestra.
