Biography
Joan Valent, Majorcan composer, formed musically in studies of cello, piano, analysis, composition and direction, in Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Los Angeles.
In 1987 he premiered his first work, Death in the Word for piano, violin, clarinet and Mezzosoprano. In Barcelona he expands his studies with composers Carles Guinovart, Joan Guinjoan and David Padrós. Attend composition, music analysis, orchestration and instrumentation classes; as well as cello, piano and direction.
Later he moved to Los Angeles (California), where he studied classical composition, Film Scoring and conducting at the University of Los Angeles (UCLA), under the tutelage of the composer Aurelio de la Vega, professor of composition at the University of Nordrighe (CSUN).
His work covers a wide variety of genres and styles, from symphonic music to chamber works. In addition, he has received several awards and recognitions for his contribution to contemporary music. Joan Valent is also known for his pedagogical work, teaching classes and workshops on musical composition.
From 1993, he has collaborated with numerous artists and participated in music festivals, establishing himself as a leading figure in today's music scene. His innovative approach and ability to fuse different styles has made his music resonate with diverse audiences.
