By far Invisible Mosaic II by Kernis was the best composition of the Festival. Mosaic was composed in 1988 and it was clear to those who know other orchestral works by Kernis that his compositional growth and development has been constant. More recent works of Kernis performed by the Orchestra in 2007 and 2008 Cabrillo Festivals can now be seen as refined artistic clones of tonight’s Mosaic. Kernis possesses great musical imagination and the artistic means to realize it.
