Programme Note
Night Machine is a slightly gloomy, mostly rhythmical Nachtmusik which hopefully does not require much explanation. It merely wants to guide the listener away into its own world for a short little while.
When writing this piece in 2005 I was aiming for a musical pendant to Stream of Consciousness similar to James Joyce's in literature. A way to in music depict the journeys of our mind, when moods and elements sometimes blend and float into each other, sometimes cut off each other abruptly, where motifs appear and later re-appear in a new disguise or maybe not. Like a brain-storm, like a chain of thoughts.
