A Handshake in the Dark

Michael Nymanhas just completed a major new commission A Handshake in the Dark , to be premiered by the BBC Symphony Chorus and Orchestra on March 8 at the Barbican Hall, London. The 25-minute piece takes as its text the extraordinary powerful antiwar poem “Letters to my Brother” by Iraqi poet Jamal Juma, written during the first Iraq war of the early 1990s.
