The 2007 BBC Proms Season has now been announced and promises to be another interesting concert series. This year's festival will run from July 13 to September 8, featuring a wide selection of works from the Music Sales catalogues. Four Poems of Thomas Campion by Richard Rodney Bennett, a BBC commission will be given its world premiere by the BBC Symphony Chorus and Stephen Jackson on August 5 at 4pm. Thea Musgrave’s new BBC commission, Two’s Company, will be given its world premiere by Evelyn Glennie and Nicholas Daniel, alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jiri Belohlavek on August 31 at 7.30pm. Other notable performances include the European premiere of the Piano Concerto by Esa-Pekka Salonen. Like the world premiere in New York in February of this year, the soloist for this performance will be Yefim Bronfman and the BBC Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by the composer himself. This concert takes place at 7.30pm on July 30. On August 17 the UK premiere of Sebastian im Traum by Hans Werner Henze takes place, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Oliver Knussen.
