There is a busy year ahead for John McCabe, who celebrates his 65th birthday, April 21 2004. The John Armitage Memorial Trust has commissioned a major new choral work; 'Songs of the Garden' (for choir, brass quintet and organ) will receive its world premiere, March 2004, in a performance by Selwyn College Choir, Cambridge. In June, the BBC Philharmonic, in conjunction with the Royal College of Music, will mount a series of concerts in Manchester under the title ‘John McCabe: Resonances’. In July, McCabe will be a featured composer in the Gloucester Three Choirs Festival.
