Song for a Raggy Boy, which has a score by Richard Blackford, has continued to win awards around the world. It has picked up prizes at the festivals in Amiens (Golden Unicorn; Best Feature Film Audience Award); Copenhagen (Golden Swan); Karlovy Vary (Crystal Globe); Ljubljana (Audience Award); Seattle (Lena Sharpe Award) and Woodstock (Haskell Wexler Award).
Set in Ireland and directed by Aisling Walsh, the film is based on Patrick Galvin’s novel - the true story of one man’s courage to stand up and fight the brutal fascist regime of an Irish boys’ boarding school in 1939.
