Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2009 for Kaija Saariaho

On January 21 Kaija Saariaho will receive the Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2009 following a concert including a performance of Nymphéa Reflection . The prize was created in 1987 by the singer Roswitha Sperber to honour the work of a women composer and amongst others Adriana Hölszky, Ruth Zechlin, Unsuk Chin and Olga Neuwirth have been awarded with the prize. The concert will be conducted by Shi-Yeon Sung, a conductor with a rising international reputation who won first prize in the Sir George Solti conducting competition in 2006 and will be awarded with the Zonta-Musikpreis on the same day.
