Composer Portrait
25th September 2009
Simon Holt ’s music receives great attention in Cardiff on October 28 when the BBC National Orchestra of Wales with their principal conductor Thierry Fischer present the first event in a new series of Composer Portrait concerts at the new BBC Hodinnott Hall, part of the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. For each of these concerts, a composer has been matched with a conductor who has genuine admiration and passion for the composer’s music. Thierry Fischer has long been an advocate of Simon’s music, presenting his music in Cardiff and elsewhere around the world. The programme for the concert is witness to a snow miracle for violin and orchestra (with soloist Chloe Hanslip), Syrensong (recently revised version), Sharp end of night and Minotaur Games (recently revised version).
Simon is Composer in Association at BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
