Einaudi signs to Chester Music
21st September 2004
Ludovico Einaudi is an exciting and diverse musician who spans both the classical and popular markets with apparent ease. He composes music for the concert hall, for film, dance and multimedia projects whilst also being an engaging and sell-out performer on the piano.
After being awarded a diploma in composition at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in Milan, Einaudi went on to study with Luciano Berio. His career began with several chamber and orchestral compositions, which were performed at most of the important international musical institutions including the Teatro alla Scala, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Tanglewood Festival, the Lincoln Center and the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, to name but a few.
In the mid-eighties he began to search for a freer and more personal musical language and his music gained a new immediacy and emotional charge. Exploring this in a successful series of dance and multimedia works, he then began performing on the piano with his own ensemble.
Einaudi has made four albums of piano music, the most recent of which, una mattina (released on Decca), he describes as “a collection of songs linked together by a story…about me now, my life, the things around me.”
Ludovico Einaudi is now published exclusively by Chester Music. More information is available from his website www.ludovicoeinaudi.com.
