Kaija Saariaho has created an ensemble version of Notes on Light , a concerto originally written for cello and orchestra
The new version will receive its world premiere in a composer portrait concert in Cologne on June 20 2010 with soloist Dirk Wietheger and the ensemble musikFabrik. The work was commissioned by musikFabrik and Kunststiftung NRW. The Saariaho portrait concert will also encompass the Tempest Songbook and Je sens un deuxième cœur. A further performance of the programme will take place in Krakow’s 8th Sacrum Profanum Festival on September 15 of this year.
