Entitled At Midnight, the disc opens with Venables’ setting of John Clare’s poetry Invite to Eternity and also includes his String Quartet Op. 32 as well as other songs for tenor and string quartet.
This recording follows the 2008 release On Wenlock Edge with performances by Andrew Kennedy, the Dante Quartet and pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips of works by Vaughan Williams, Ivor Gurney and Ian Venables (SIGCD112)
