Sir Peter Maxwell Davies is to be presented with a Fellowship to the British Academy of Composers & Songwriters on the 24 April 2005, at a special performance being held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the ongoing festival Max: Peter Maxwell Davies, a Musician of Our Time.
The recently appointed Master of the Queen’s Music will be presented with his Fellowship by the Poet Laureate Andrew Motion – the first time that the two royal appointments have formally made a public appearance. This unique presentation will be followed by the world première of Maxwell Davies’ score A Dance on The Hill by the City of London Sinfonia.
This is the fifth of five special Fellowships the Academy is issuing in celebration of the Ivor Novello Awards’ 50 year anniversary. Max follows in the footsteps of Sir Elton John, John Adams, David Arnold and John Dankworth.
