Martin Creed Announces New Album 'Mind Trap'

The album, co-produced by Martin with Andy Knowles, whose former musical credits include stints playing with both the Fiery Furnaces and Franz Ferdinand, was recorded in London and Chicago. Nick McCarthy of Franz Ferdinand provided additional production.
The album sleeve, featuring one of Martin's own paintings, Work No. 1674 Anouchka, was designed by Knowles, who has also recently directed videos for both Franz Ferdinand and The Cribs.
Martin has released one previous album, Love To You on Moshi Moshi Records in 2012.
The Vinyl Factory, a label which collaborates with musicians and artists to produce and release limited edition vinyl, as well as create accompanying exhibitions, events and audio-visual shows, will also release Mind Trap as a limited edition vinyl version.
It will be released as a gatefold vinyl pressed on 180-gram heavyweight wax. There will also be a limited edition of 50 copies, each featuring hand painted cover artwork by Martin Creed, hand signed and numbered by the artist. This is the latest in a series of collaborations between The Vinyl Factory and Martin Creed, with the label having previously released Creed's debut album and a series of limited edition 12" including Where You Go (2010) and the Chicago (2012).
29th January 2014 saw the opening of the first major survey of Creed's work at the Hayward Gallery at Southbank Centre. The far-reaching retrospective will include arguably his best-known work, the Turner-prize winning installation The Lights Going On and Off (2000) and will occupy both floors of the Hayward Gallery as well as its outdoor terraces.
To coincide with the exhibition Southbank Centre has commissioned Creed to compose a new work for organ and mouth organ which will be included in the Pull Out All The Stops Festival, celebrating the complete restoration, and reinstallation of the organ in the Royal Festival Hall. This work will be premiered on 30th March by James McVinnie and Creed himself. In addition to this Southbank Centre will present a performance of Creed's Ballet Work No. 1020 on 8th April.
