Deloitte Ignite Festival at the Royal Opera House

Deloitte Ignite Festival at the Royal Opera House
During September the Royal Opera House and Deloitte Ignite are presenting a month long festival celebrating and exploring the origin of myth and creation through dance, visual art, film, music and movement. The festival focuses on two archetypal myths: Prometheus, the Titan who creates man from clay and steals fire from the Gods, and Leda and the Swan, the mysterious conjunction of a mortal woman and the god Zeus, disguised as a swan.

The opening weekend called ‘Sampling the Myth’ featured three newly commissioned dance films created by the rising choreographic talent Charlotte Edmonds, featuring music by Gabriel Yared, internationally renowned choreographer Kim Brandstrup featuring Nico Muhly’s Diacritical Marks and National Ballet of Canada’s Robert Binet featuring music by Nils Frahm. The event was held in the Linbury Threatre on September 5, 6 and 7 and also projected in a live stream on giant screens in the Paul Hamlyn Hall. It also featured extracts of Wayne McGregor’s Raven Girl with music by Gabriel Yared and Mikhail Fokine’s choreography of Stravinsky’s Firebird.
