Eric Whitacre at the BBC Proms
This Sunday August 9 Eric Whitacre will conduct his second BBC Prom at London's Royal Albert Hall. The event includes the European premiere of Deep Field, a groundbreaking new work for SATB chorus, orchestra and smartphone app, commissioned by Minnesota Orchestra and BBC Radio 3. Audience members will be able to take part in the performance, using the bespoke app on their phones.

Other repertoire in the programme includes American classics by Gershwin and Copland, plus three further pieces by Whitacre: The River Cam for cello and orchestra, the choral work Cloudburst and Equus for SATB chorus and orchestra.

Whitacre will conduct the BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, pianist Martin James Bartlett and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich.
