Karen Tanaka will visit the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, on 12 & 13 April at the invitation of Professor of Composition (and G. Schirmer composer) Bright Sheng. During her visit she will give a seminar for composition students and work with the university’s Contemporary Directions Ensemble on performances of her music. The ensemble, conducted by Jonathan Shames, will perform a programme of new music on 13 April in the Britton Recital Hall which will include Tanaka’s works Water and Stone, Frozen Horizon, Night Bird and Techno Etudes.
