Classic FM’s composer in residence Debbie Wiseman has teamed up with colleague and friend, Alan Titchmarsh to produce an hour-long suite inspired by gardening, The Glorious Garden. Titchmarsh, the man whose name is synonymous with the English country garden has written a collection of beautiful yet entertaining poems about his favourite plants and flowers, Debbie Wiseman has then taken these words and written musical accompaniment for orchestra. This is the second of Wiseman’s major commissions from Classic FM and follows the huge success of her twelve-movement suite The Musical Zodiac in late 2016.
Each poem in The Glorious Garden, personally written by Titchmarsh and read aloud before each movement on the CD, is published in the album booklet. Each movement calls on selections from the full orchestra to evoke the different characteristics of the flowers.
