The annual Juilliard FOCUS Festival is a perennial highlight for lovers of modern and contemporary music. This January’s edition is titled "Trailblazers: Pioneering Women Composers of the 20th Century," and features both the New Juilliard Ensemble under the direction of founder Joel Sachs and the Juilliard Orchestra, with David Robertson conducting. Co-curated by Odaline de la Martinez and Sachs, "Trailblazers" celebrates the achievements of composers including Sofia Gubaidulina, Thea Musgrave, Betsy Jolas, and Galina Ustvolskaya, across two concerts (January 25 & 31). Complete information on the FOCUS Festival can be found here.
