The BBC Proms are back with a bang although in a very different format to usual. The 8 weeklong 2020 season will feature musical greats from the past and the present – both from the archive and remarkable live performances.
Wise Music Classical works once again feature heavily in this year’s Proms, and these are some of the highlights that are not to be missed!
- The world premiere of John Tavener’s landmark work The Protecting Veil by Stephen Isserlis
- Judith Weir’s woman.life.song, written for Jessye Norman
- Helen Grime: Near Midnight (London premiere) with Sir Mark Elder conducting the Hallé Orchestra
- Vasily Petrenko conducting the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in Nico Muhly’s Gait
- Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic performing The Firebird
- A live performance of Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915
