Celebrating Nørgård and Saariaho
This year, the festival is celebrating two great anniversaries, Per Nørgård’s 90th birthday and Kaija Saariaho’s 70th birthday.
The Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, under the direction of Thomas Adès will be performing Per Nørgård's Drømmespil and Witold Lutosławski's Symphony No.3 on August 27, 2022

Maja S.K. Ratkje’s STYX Tours
Lucerne Theatre together with the Music Theater Collective Agora, present ‘STYX Tours. A Rendezvouz with Death’ at the Altes Krematorium from August 26 to September 10, 2022.
With STYX Tours, the audience embarks on a musical-theatrical journey into the unknown.
We can expect a humorous as well as touching encounter with our own abysses, missed chances, and 99 ways to die. Because when we are confronted with death, we inevitably think about life:
What makes a life worth living? What is? What remains?
