On January 12, 2023 the Austrian Parliamentary building on Vienna's Ringstrasse was reopened after several years of renovation with a big public ceremony that was also broadcast live on television – 2 movements from the brass quimtet Music Hall Suite by Joseph Horovitz were performed by members of the Wiener Philharmoniker alongside works by Handel, Dvorak and Johann Strauss.
Memorial Concerts
The Austrian Cultural Forum in London host a special tribute concert, marking the first anniversary of the death of composer and conductor Joseph Horovitz, celebrating the broad range of his many achievements. Madeleine Mitchell, violin; James Gilbert, clarinet; Julian Chan, piano; Michael White, presenter along with the London Chamber Ensemble perform Horovitz works including his much-loved Clarinet Sonatina, Concertante for Clarinet and Strings and String Quartet No.5, in a sold-out concert from the Austrian Cultural Forum in London on February 9th.
A month later, on March 9, the Royal College of Music celebrates the life and career the composer and also RCM professor Joseph Horovitz. The concert, held at the Royal College of Music Hall is an ‘all Horovitz’ evening with tickets from £5 – find tickets here.
