Abrahamsen on the Australian stage
Musicians of the Gewandhaus have travelled to Australia to collaborate with Australian Chamber Orchestra to present the Hans Abrahamsen arrangement of Moments Musicaux (the beloved miniatures for solo piano by Franz Schubert). The Danish composer’s well-known arrangement is written for a richly instrumental mixed octet.

John Luther Adams on the New Zealand stage
Following the New Zealand performance of Ten Thousand Birds by Orchestra Wellington, Become Ocean by John Luther Adams is performed by New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Become Ocean is inspired by the oceans of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The composer says “as the polar ice melts and sea level rises, we humans find ourselves facing the prospect that once again we may quite literally become ocean”.

Nico Muhly and Samuel Barber on the Singapore stage
Two Wise Music composers feature on Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Three Continents Cello Concerto program. The Overture to the School for Scandal by Samuel Barber opens the program. It is followed by the Asian premiere of Cello Cycles, composed by the lively and vibrant composer, Nico Muhly.
