Heading into October Nico Muhly is keeping busy with three World Premieres in a matter of weeks. This Sunday October 8 sees two premieres, firstly the Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford will perform Muhly's new Missa Brevis in their 11am Sung Eucharist Service at the Magdalen College Chapel. Later that day the Choir of Sydney Sussex College, Cambridge will premiere the anthem Above the Heavens in their Choral Evensong at 6pm.
Further down the line, Muhly's new work Fallings, comissioned by the Byrd Ensemble, will be debuted in Seattle on October 21. The performance will be made available via an online virtual video concert on October 28, and also on the ensembles up-coming CD out in early November. Pre-order the CD here.

Rounding out the month in LA at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Muhly's 2019 concerto Shrink will be performed by violinist Pekka Kuusisto, for whom the work was written, alongside the LA Philharmonic led by Esa-Pekka Salonen. Running October 27-29, the concert will also feature the World Premiere of Salonen's Tiu.
