The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich season with Bryce Dessner as Creative Chair continues with the world premiere of his Piano Concerto. Written for pianist Alice Sara Ott the new work will be conducted by Kent Nagano on January 18 and 19. The concerto is inspired by Ott’s unique artistic qualities and by Dessner’s dancer sister Jessica. The piece is in three movements.
Commissioned by Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich AG, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Southbank Centre and Philharmonia Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Philzuid Netherlands, Bozar, Brussels Philharmonic and Ars Musica and Münchner Philharmoniker.
