Electric Fields is a work for two pianos and a singer that was co-composed by Bryce Dessner and David Chalmin. Tonhalle Zurich presents this immersive multimedia concert on April 13 and 14.
The music is framed by video installations, light projections and other special effects. It is performed by soprano Barbara Hannigan, pianist duo Katia and Marielle Labèque and David Chalmin on live electronics, together with light designer Bernd Purkrabek and sound engineer Guillaume Loubère.
This concert represents a musical journey through time. It is inspired by the works and life of Hildegard von Bingen and Baroque-era compositions of Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini, giving a modern reflection of those works. The journey is concluded with music by Dessner and Chalmin.
