The UK premiere of German composer Carola Bauckholt’s Im Auge des Klangs, (In the Eye of the Sound) will take place at TECTONICS Glasgow 2024 on May 5 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ilan Volkov.
The first bar of Mussorgsky's "With the Dead in a Dead Language" is the starting point for this orchestral work.
I immersed myself in this fascinating mixed sound of the trumpet, marimba, and xylophone, which on the one hand is suppressed and latent like death, on the other hand, distant and eternal, and “travelled” with it.
