A new work, Im frühen Licht , for mixed choir with music by Bernd Franke and text by Christian Lehnert will be premiered at chor.com in Hannover. On September 28, Windsbacher Knabenchor under the baton of Ludwig Böhme will perform the piece at the biennial festival and conference that is entitled “For boys only”, featuring music for boy’s choirs.

Im frühen Licht marks the fourth collaboration between Franke and Lehnert, who got to know each other through their mutual mentor Hans Werner Henze.

The work was commissioned by the Windsbach Boys' Choir and its conductor Ludwig Böhme, to whom it is also dedicated.

Meaning ‘In the early light’, Im frühen Licht has strong references to both nature and breath. The composer says: ‘In the four movements I work with different techniques, free and aleatoric, strictly contrapuntal, polytonal and with small motivic cells.’
