On the occasion of Arnold Schönberg’s 150th anniversary (September 13), Wien Modern, an Austrian festival for contemporary music, has commissioned Manos Tsangaris to write a trilogy about his dialogue with Arnold Schönberg.

Between November 13 and 21, Arnold Elevators will become a festival within the festival – at four locations around Vienna’s Karlsplatz PHACE, Studio Dan as well as numerous soloists and objects are performing Tsangari’s musical-theatrical works:

Blicke (November 13 – 15) brings the audience to an individual Parcours at exhibition center Secession. They can explore six venues that are spread from the basement to the rooftop, all focusing on Schönberg’s fascination with views.

Schönes Wetter in Gmunden (November 19 – 21) are six ‚public private performances‘ at the Musikverein that invite nine listeners to learn more about one of the most dramatic and momentours episode in Schönberg’s biography.

Double Portrait with Arnold (November 19 – 21) is performed at the Concert House Vienna and the audience swaps places during the break.

Metabolischer Salon (November 13, 15 and 16) is inviting the audience on three evenings to the Arnold Schönberg Center where hosts Manos Tsangaris and Bernhard Günther meet different dialogue partners.
