Rachel Portman's score to the family film  Mimi and the Mountain Dragonbased on the story by Sir Michael Morpurgo, will be performed live to picture by a professional orchestra for the first time this December 21. The animated film with screenplay by Owen Sheers and magical drawings by Emily Gravett, was commissioned by BBC Music TV Commissioning and beautifully produced by Leopard Pictures and Bafta- winning studio Factory.  The film first aired on BBCTV in 2019.  The Hallé Orchestra and choir perform along side their youth training choir conducted by Olivia Clarke. 

 

 

In an evening full of fantasy and adventure, the first half follows Mimi on her perilous journey to return a baby dragon to its mother. For the second half we follow Raymond Briggs’ timeless tale The Snowman, brought to life with Howard Blake’s magical score.
