On December 28, Tjóðpallur Føroya /  National Theatre of the Faroe Islands presents the World Premiere of Regin Smidur (Regin the Smith), an opera composed and written by Sunleif Rasmussen. The work has been crafted especially for renowned Faroese bass-baritone Rúni Brattaberg and draws on medieval texts and legends.

Regin Smidur is a 75-minute opera combining contemporary music and dance, electronic sounds, and the traditional Faroese ballad culture. Central to the story is the Nibelungenlied, which also served as the foundation for Richard Wagner's operas under the title Der Ring des Nibelungen. The ensemble for the performance features two dancers, two percussionists, piano, trombone, trumpet, and electronics, creating a rich and evocative sound world.
