Next week there will be events celebrating two Edition Peters composers: Sally Beamish and George Lewis.

In London, the Royal College of Music will host "George Lewis Day"—a day-long residency on February 12 that will enable student composers, performers and researchers to benefit from his presence in the college. The day will feature a lunchtime chamber concert and an evening concert with pre-concert talk from the composer himself. In the pair of concerts RCM musicians will perform an eclectic range of his works, from intricate chamber music to flamboyant ensemble scores.

On February 14, Ensemble Isis will present a programme of Beamish's work interspersed with new works by student composers at Oxford University. The concert will be hosted in the Jacquelin du Pré Music Building, where Ensemble Isis’s programme explores the many influences on Beamish's work, including jazz in her alto saxophone piece ‘April’, and also surveys her most early and recent works for ensemble.
