Best of 2005

As 2005 draws to a close, a number of Music Sales composers feature in prominent ‘best of 2005’ lists.

The Sunday Times ‘Records of the Year’ list includes recent recordings of Peter Maxwell Davies’ Naxos Quartets 3 & 4 (“…vintage Maxwell Davies … I have no hesitation in recommending them both.” – Edward Venn, Tempo) and Elliott Carter’s Night Fantasies for piano (“…brought off with amazing virtuosity.” – Paul Driver, The Sunday Times).

Amazon.com lists the CD of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Wing on Wing in the top 25 Classical Editor’s Picks (“The performances are stunning, as are the recordings … Recommended.” – Stephen Johnson, BBC Music Magazine).

This Christmas sees the release of two new collections of carols – the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge with On Christmas Day, and the BBC Singers with One Star, At Last. Music by Lennox Berkeley, Richard Rodney Bennett, Judith Weir, Peter Maxwell Davies, John Tavener, John Harle and Giles Swayne features on these recordings.
