Kullervo in Berne

The production will include many Finnish singers; the title role of Kullervo will be performed by baritone Gabriel Suovanen, and other protagonists include tenor Jyrki Anttila, baritone Esa Ruuttunen, mezzo-soprano Anna-Lisa Jakobsson, and soprano Riitta Ahonen. They will perform on a stage designed by Christoph Wagenknecht.
This is the second Swiss Premiere of a Finnish Opera in Bern within a few years, following L’amour de loin by Kaija Saariaho in 2001 on the same stage and with the same conductor, Hans Drewanz.
