Programme Note
The quality of "Divine Eros" and longing inhabit the great Exposteilarion of Great and Holy Week in the Orthodox church.
There is no room for pride, callousness, or the recounting of good deeds. We must repent and repent, and have an "ekstasis", which means an ecstasy and going out of ourselves, returning to God a love "beyond" ourselves.
The Bridal Chamber was written in memory of Pat Harrison, the inspiration of Little Missenden.
