The second Greenaway/Nyman feature film (1985) which like The Draughtsman’s Contract presented me with a structural and conceptual rather than emotional, expressive task. Peter Greenaway asked me to make eight pieces of music which would ‘represent’ the eight stages of the Darwinian evolutionary cycle
