Programme Note

The title comes from a sculpture of the same name by Constantin Brancusi: Maïastra or Pasarea Maïastra is a magic golden bird in Romanian folklore, noted for its marvellous song which had miraculous powers.
The piece is of approximately 10 minutes duration.
