Programme Note
If the idea behind the piece comes from anywhere, the "Disparates" (Follies) of Goya were certainly at the back of my mind when writing. The Goya images are nightmarish and the meaning of many is obscure. They are essentially sardonic and include allusions to witchcraft and to bizarre carnival festivities.
