Programme Note
1. The morrow
2. God's hands/Becoming Jerome
3. Not the only one
4. The Departure
Andrew Niccol's first feature was made in 1997. It presents a future society of genetically-engineered people where Jerome (Ethan Hawke), a 'natural birth', assumes the identity of a member of the genetic elite to pursue his goal of travelling into space.
This is Michael Nyman's first Hollywood score, composed for full orchestra. This orchestral suite was made in 2001 to celebrate the opening of the new arts complex Valencia and was revised in 2003 for an all-Nyman concert given by the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, London.
