Programme Note

Joker was inspired by Keith Jarret's piano style, particularly as it unfolds in his famous concerts of solo improvisation. The title comes from the fact that a kind of 'joker effect' is built-in in the rhythmic play which disturbs the 'arithmetical problem' and forces the music to continue every time a four-layered polyrhythm is about to come out.
