Reviews
A new violin concerto introduced a new Efrem Zimbalist to a Carnegie Hall audience last night. The occasion was one of the Philadelphia Orchestra's visits to New York. The concerto was by the versatile Italo-American composer, Gian-Carlo Menotti....Both the concerto and Mr. Zimbalist sounded terrifically young last night. It is a fresh and vigorous piece of music, overflowing with energy and melody and whatever else it takes to complete a three-movement concerto without becoming apologetic.
