Programme Note
This theatrical new work (a mini dance opera) by Luke Styles features experimental vocal trio Juice and Trish Clowes' jazz/classical ensemble Tangent, performing alongside three live dancers. Blurring the boundaries between dancer and musician, this evocative piece retells a Native Canadian folk tale in a playful, highly dynamic way.
'I'm thrilled to have the chance to create a new work for such dynamic forces as Juice, Tangent and dancers. The exposure and performance platform for this as part of the New Music Biennial only increase the excitement I have to compose something virtuosic, lyric, energised and with a touch of improvisation.' - Luke Styles
