Programme Note
The Merton Responses were written especially for Merton College Choir, Oxford, and were first performed in Merton College Chapel at the start of my Visiting Research Fellowship in the Creative Arts at the College. I wanted to create a virtuosic setting of the text that fully responded to the drama inherent within the words.
