Note
Franz Waxman returned to Paramount Pictures to compose the score for Steve Parker’s production of My Geisha, a Norman Krasna comedy directed by Jack Cardiff. The movie’s plot concerns a director (Yves Montand) who makes a film of Madama Butterfly in Japan. His wife (Shirley MacLaine) disguises herself as a geisha and gets the leading role — without her husband’s knowledge — through the help of Edward G. Robertson, and more attention than she needs from Robert Cummings. Waxman’s theme “You Are Sympathy to Me” was a popular recording at the time of the film’s release.
