Programme Note
My Walks form a series of some 20 works, scored from everything from duos to large orchestra. They are all intended as walks towards a specific work by another composer, and include short quotations from the composition that they are approaching. They also have a walking rhythm, starting from nowhere and dying away at the end as if the music is passing by. In A Walk to Brahms, we are heading towards his beautiful horn trio. As we proceed, we can hear echoes from the approaching work, as if seeing the distant silhouette of a city. The piece was written specifically for this CD, to form a bridge between the other works.
