Programme Note
Bow to String by Daníel Bjarnason was originally composed as a studio piece for multi-layered cellos, all played by Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir on the album Processions. For live performance Bjarnason developed numerous versions that can be performed in various settings. This edition is the version for Cello and Orchestra, composed 2011 and revised 2022. The piece is in three movements and is moving from loud to quiet, from earthly to the ethereal. The full score is available for sale as part of the Peters Contemporary Library and the orchestral material is available for rent.
