Programme Note

Tour de Trance (für Orchester und Sopran)

I – manische Episode/ II / III – poisoning time / IV – Tour de Trance

Already during the work on the manic episode - which can be performed as an independent piece - there was a strong impulse to push the piece further and to break up the clear focus and processuality through the principle of continuous transformation. To a certain extent, an unopened room could be felt behind the piece, with more jagged forms full of forward and backward references.

In the end, this changed development led to the human voice and the eponymous text by Monika Rinck, which I had been carrying around with me for several years. A culmination point, a catastrophe, is followed by a slow-motion-like atomisation and dissolution into individual fragments: another standstill and - possibly - another new beginning.
